Earl (Bill) Geesman, 75, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Earl (Bill) Geesman, age 75, of Albert Lea, formerly of Alden, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, at the United Methodist Church in Alden. The Rev. Fayeta Maki will officiate. Burial will be at the Alden cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday at the Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Bill died on Saturday, May 4, 2002, at Thorne Crest Retirement Center North following complications from Myasthenia Gravis and Parkinsons.

He was born on July 2, 1926, to Guy and Delia (Hopfe) Geesman in Freeborn County. He graduated from Alden High School.

He was a life resident of the Alden area where he farmed. On Dec. 14, 1952, He married Barbara Hanson. Besides his love for farming, he was an insurance agent for 26 years. He was on the board of directors for Farmer’s Mutual Insurance of Manchester, during which time he also served as president for two years. He also was a township assessor for Freeborn County.

Bill was a member of the Alden United Methodist Church and the Elks. He enjoyed the time spent with his family and friends. He dearly loved his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two children: Jacquelin (John) Bauernfeino of Peoria, Ariz., and Gary (Angela) Geesman of Alden; three grandchildren: Robert, Thomas, and Mallory Geesman of Alden; Two sisters: Doris (Floyd) Hinkley of Albert Lea, and Cleone Svenningsen of Wells; and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law: James Hunnicutt and Harvey Svenningsen; and father- and mother-in-law: Ray and Agnes Hanson.
