Funeral services for Evelyn M. Kos, age 87, of Northwood, Iowa, formerly of Myrtle, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 20, at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Daniel Baker will officiate. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Austin. Visitation is 3-6 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at the

Bayview/Freeborn Funeral home, and one hour prior to the services at the Chapel.

Evelyn died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood, Iowa.

Evelyn Myrtle Kos was born July 4, 1914, to Arthur Joseph and Frances (Cafourek) Baley in London Township. She was baptized at the First Methodist Church in Austin and attended the Benesh and Myrtle Schools. Evelyn was a member of the ZCBJ Lodge #38 in Austin, the Mother’s Club, and the Neighborhood Birthday Club. She was one of the organizers of the Myrtle Museum. Evelyn liked gardening and baking kolaches.

Survivors include children: Ron Kos of Austin, Fran Nelson of Northwood, and Wayne Kos and his wife Barb of Lutsen; grandchildren: Karleen Kos of Brandon, Fla., Lynette Vega and her husband Ron of Huntington Beach, Calif., Jackie Ceurvels and her husband Jim of Nashua, N.H., and Berdale Nelson and his wife Lori of Glenville; great-grandchildren: Dakota and Blair Nelson, and Lukos Ceurvels; sister, Georgia Oxley of Austin; brothers: Archie Baley and his wife Mildred of Austin, and Robert Baley and his wife Donna of Glenville; and nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; her son-in-law, Dale Nelson; three brothers in infancy; and three grandchildren.
