Feeding the needy rewarding for Gray

At the time of the Farmland fire, Shirley Gray noticed on television the Salvation Army was swamped with people in need of food because of the loss of their jobs at Farmland. Since she had some free time on her hands she decided to devote time to a cause that was in demand.

She quickly became actively involved in the food pantry services, dedicating hours to feeding people, in August and September. Gray now volunteers two days a week. She is responsible for stocking the shelves with food, getting boxes ready for families and assisting anyone in need who comes into the Salvation Army.

For the past two years Gray has also volunteered at Christmas time. She rings the bell for the Salvation Army’s kettle drive.
