ADAMS &045; According to Glenville-Emmons baseball coach Louie Toulouse, either game could have went either way.

But as has happened so often this season, both went the way of the Wolverines.

Glenville-Emmons improved its record to 10-2 overall and 2-0 in the Southeast Conference by sweeping Southland 1-0 and 4-3 at Adams Thursday.

Richie Mathis pitched a two-hitter in the opener, improving his record to 4-1. He struck out five and did not issue a walk.

Paul Kleven, Matt Learn, Jay Wadding and Mitch Meier had hits for the Wolverines.

The only run scored in the top of the fifth inning on back-to-back singles by Meier and Kleven.

Meier ran his record to 5-0 while pitching a complete game in the nightcap. He walked two and struck out 12 while giving up one earned run.

Kleven had two hits, Mathis and Wadding one apiece.

The Wolverines preserved the win with a nice defensive play in the top of the sixth inning. With a runner on third and two outs, catcher Nick Flatness chased down a passed ball and fired to Meier, who tagged the runner.

&uot;It was cold and windy and the conditions were not very good for baseball,&uot; said Toulouse.

The Wolverines host Lyle/Austin Pacelli in adoubleheader today at Emmons.
