GLENVILLE &045; Once again, the Glenville-Emmons softball team came away only half satisfied.

The Wolverines split a doubleheader for the fifth consecutive time Tuesday, defeating Fillmore Central 1-0 in the opener while dropping game two 6-5 at Glenville. Both times, the winning run scored in the bottom of the sixth and final inning.

&uot;It was classic,&uot; said Wolverines coach Bob Staska. &uot;The last team to bat wins. If you’re the home team, you’ve got the best shot.&uot;

Jessica Claussen scored the winning run in game one, leading off the bottom of the sixth with a double. Jill Delger singled and stole second and Katie Brackey bunted for a single to load the bases. Megan Avery knocked in Claussen with a single to right field.

Jenna Brackey had the Wolverines’ other hits, going 2-for-2.

Delger pitched a four-hitter. She had seven strikeouts and five walks.

In game two, the visitors scored the winning run on a one-out ground ball single against a drawn-in Wolverine infield. The Wolverines had tied the game in the top of the inning but had the go-ahead run thrown out at the plate.

&uot;That was kind of a turning point,&uot; said Staska.

Claussen took the loss, giving up four earned runs on 10 hits, with five strikeouts and four walks.

Amy Fredrickson was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Delger had an RBI triple. Jenna Brackey was 1-for-1 with two walks. Claussen, Kelly Yost and Katie Kimble also hit safely.

&uot;It was a well played doubleheader by both teams,&uot; said Staska.

The Wolverines, 9-6 overall and 7-5 in the Southeast Conference, travel to Ostrander Thursday for a doubleheader with LeRoy-Ostrander/Grand Meadow.
