Loans for Vasco and Kleentec on city slate

The fate of $275,000 worth of economic development loans will be decided at tonight’s Albert Lea City Council meeting.

Two companies are asking the city to provide the financial assistance. Vasco, Inc is asking for $125,000 and Kleentec is requesting $150,000. The loans, if approved, would still need to pass a final review by the city before being issued.

In other business, the council is scheduled to act on the following issues:

– Lease space on city water towers for cellular phone and wireless Internet antennas. The antennas would be installed by Midwest Wireless and the amount the city receives would go into the municipal water fund.

– Amend the city fireworks code.

– Confirm ward boundaries for the next election.

– Accept an offer to sell the Hansen Building and parking lot in downtown Albert Lea.
