With winds in the 30 to 40 mph range, Albert Lea boys’ golf coach Doug Christopherson told his team one thing on the first tee Thursday.

&uot;I said, ‘If we can shoot 160 today in these conditions, we’re not too bad,’&uot; said Christopherson.

They must be pretty good.

The Tigers shot 155 for nine holes to defeat Fairmont by six strokes at Green Lea.

&uot;That’s an outstanding score considering the wind,&uot; said Christopherson.

The Tigers have lost only once in dual meets or triangulars this spring and have finished first and second, respectively, in the two tournaments they’ve played.

Dan Breuer and Adam Elseth both shot 38, Ross Stadheim 39 and Ryan Thompson 40 Thursday. Jon Breuer was at 42, Adam Boelter 43.

The Albert Lea junior varsity remained undefeated with a 171-232 victory.

Troy Farnes led the junior varsity with a 41. Matt Bennett shot 42.

The Tigers travel to the 10-team Fairmont Invitational Saturday morning at Rose Lake Golf Course.

&uot;That’s a good tournament,&uot; said Christopherson. &uot;We’ll get to see a lot of teams we haven’t seen this year.&uot;
