Albert H. Jahnke, 89, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Albert H. Jahnke, age 89,, of Thorne Crest Retirement Center, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. The Rev. Peter Soli will officiate. Interment will be in the Alden Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Albert died on Saturday, June 22, 2002, at Thorne Crest.

Albert Henry Jahnke was born on April 12, 1913, in Mansfield Township, the son of Christian and Bertha (Weisner) Jahnke. He grew up and went to school in Freeborn County. Albert took over the family farm when he was 13 years old due to the death of his father. On Feb. 15, 1939, Albert was united in marriage to Marie Jacobs at the Mansfield Lutheran Church. Albert was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and the N.R.A. He enjoyed camping, traveling, making copper bracelets, shooting, hunting, and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Marie of Albert Lea; children: Roger and his wife Shelia Jahnke of Alden, Jerry and his wife Elaine Jahnke of Alden, Mrs. Cheryl Mischke of Theilman, Minn., and Dale Jahnke and his special friend Susie Stoen, both of Wells; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Bertha Larson of Blue Earth; and many nieces and nephews.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents; his son-in-law, Walter Mischke; his grandson, Russell Mischke; six brothers: Manville, Walter, Henry, Harold, Ellsworth, and Christian; and four sisters: Maleta Abbe, Frieda Meisner, Marie Mattick, and Eleanor Helland.
