ALHA seeking hockey coaches

Blue Line Club tourney June 22

The Albert Lea High School Hockey Blue Line Club is sponsoring a golf tournament Saturday, June 22 at Green Lea Golf Course.

It will a four-person best shot with mixed teams welcome. Entry fee is $25 for Green Lea members, $40 for nonmembers 18 and over, $15 for under 18 and includes 18 holes of golf and dinner. For nongolfers, dinner tickets are $7.

Girls’ basketball boosters to meet

The Albert Lea Girls’ Basketball Boosters will meet Wednesday, June 12 at 7 p.m. in Room E202 of Albert Lea High School.

All players, parents and coaches are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Hall of Fame game, banquet June 21-22

The annual festivities for the Freeborn County Fast-Pitch Softball Hall of Fame are fast approaching.

The Old-timers Game will be part of the Conger Centennial and will be played the night of Friday, June 21. The banquet will be the night of Saturday, June 22 at the Albert Lea Elks Club.

Boys’ basketball camp June 18-21

The 2002 Albert Lea Tiger Boys’ Basketball Camp will be held at the high school June 18-21.

Players in grades 3-10 can register now through Community Education. Camp for grades 3-6 will be from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and grades 7-10 will be from 1-4 p.m. Players will work on skills such as passing, shooting, cutting, defense, rebounding and all others involved in becoming a great basketball player. Players will receive a camp t-shirt, water bottle, and awards.

Boys’ varsity head coach Matt Addington will direct the camp with assistant coaches and current

Tiger basketball players. There will also be appearances by several NCAA college basketball players. Sign up now for a great week of basketball with the Tigers.

Summer hockey school July 15-26

The Albert Lea Summer Hockey School will be held from July 15 through July 26. Goalie positions are filled in Squirts, PeeWees, Bantams and girls’ under 12 divisions. All interested boys and girls are reminded to register by June 15. Call Roy or Jan Nystrom at 373-7890 for more information.

Water ski shows set for Thursdays

The Bayside Skiers water ski club is presenting shows every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

All shows are at Edgewater Park, near the ski jump. Concessions, including hot dogs, chips and soda, are available at all shows.

In addition, there will be two special shows at 2 p.m. on July 4 and Labor Day.

The public is invited. Admission is free.
