Douglas C. Claussen, 46, Twin Lakes

Memorial services for Douglas C. Claussen, age 46, of rural Twin Lakes, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 27, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Wayne Halvorson will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 6-8 p.m. today at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home is assisting the family.

On Monday, June 24, 2002, Doug died peacefully at his parents’ home, surrounded by those he loved after a courageous battle with cancer.

Douglas Clark Claussen was born August 17,1955, to Delmon D. and Junice M. (Overland) Claussen in Albert Lea. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1974 and was a lifelong resident of the Albert Lea area. Doug worked for Sorensen Bros. as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and Freeborn County Pheasant & Habitat. Doug enjoyed and lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed riding his Harley, planting and taking care of his trees, riding snowmobile, hunting, fishing, gardening. Doug also loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends, feeding his birds, and working on his “ranch.” He loved his dogs, Pupper and Sassie.

Survivors include his daughters: Amber Lea Claussen and her daughter, Alyssa Lea Gilderhus, and April Lynn Claussen and Clint Chance and their son, Zane Kyle Chance; parents: Delmon and Junice Claussen; brother, Dan Claussen and his wife Therese and their children, Erin, Anna and Drew; brother, Jeff Claussen and his wife Julie and their children, Josh and Lindsay; sister, Janelle Tuttle and husband Curt and children, Crystal, Tonia and Jordan; special friend, Ronae Schumaker, all of Albert Lea; aunts and uncles: Dennis and Sharon Overland, Rick and Shirley Yocum, Dar and Betty Claussen, Forrie and Gretchen Claussen; and many cousins and special friends.

Doug was preceded in death by his grandparents: Melvin and Jorgina Overland and Howard and Verna Claussen; and his uncle and aunt: Richard and Donna Claussen.
