Kenneth R. Frantum, age 80, of Byron, died Sunday, June 9, 2002, at his residence of natural causes.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, June 12, at the Byron United Methodist Church with the Rev. Butch Lewellin and the Rev. Harold Kraft officiating. Burial will be in the Byron Cemetery. Music will be provided by Dorothy Sandquist, organist. Casketbearers will be Sydney Larson, Steven Larson, Dan R. Wilson, Thomas R. Frantum, Mark Bailey and Mark Reynolds.

Visitation was Tuesday, June 11, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Memorial Chapel, from 4-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Kenneth Raymond Frantum was born on April 2, 1922, in Alden, to Guy Raymond and Amanda (Powers) Frantum.

He attended school in Alden, graduated from high school in 1942, and entered the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and was married to Marjorie Furman on July 6, 1946, in Albert Lea.

Following their marriage, the couple lived in Austin where Ken worked in a grocery store. They moved to Albert Lea and he worked for Wilson Foods as a laborer.

Kenneth joined the Albert Lea Fire Department in 1953 and retired from the department in 1973.

They moved to the Rochester area in the early 1990s. Kenneth worked as a maintenance manager for Berkshire Village in Rochester until retiring in July 2001. He was a member of the Byron # 404 in Alden, and was a member of the Kennel Club of Albert Lea.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Marjorie; two daughters: Patricia (Sydney) Larson and Bette (Dan) Wilson, all of Byron; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters:

Phyllis (Merle) Martinson and Luella Hagman, and one brother, Clifford (Gloris) Frantum, all of Alden.

His parents and one infant son preceded him in death.
