Local Williams Fund Golf Outing June 12

Published 12:00 am Saturday, June 1, 2002

The 12th Annual U of M Williams Fund Golf Outing will be Monday, June 10th at Albert Lea Country Club.

In the first 11 years, the Albert Lea event has generated $90,000 in funding for the U of M Williams Fund Scholarship Program. The Williams Fund provides financial assistance to student-athletes participating in men’s athletics who maintain a 3.0 or better grade point average. The Williams Fund program plays a major role in attracting student athletes by providing more scholarship opportunities.

This year’s event will begin with a shot gun start at noon, followed by a 5:30 p.m. social hour, a 6:30 pork chop dinner prepared by the Freeborn County Pork Producers, and at 7 p.m. a program featuring U of M coaches and athletic department officials.

At this time, head football coach Glen Mason, head baseball coach John Anderson, Athletic Director Tom Moe, and Assistant Athletic Director Jeff Schemel are confirmed.

Again this year, golf and dinner will be $75 and includes two tickets to a U of M football game, plus lots of games and prizes on the course. For non-golfers, dinner only tickets can be purchased for just $15. Golf and dinner tickets are limited to the first 132 paid entries. If you are not on the Williams Fund mailing list, entry forms will be available at Green Lea Golf Course, Albert Lea Country Club, or by contacting Dave Christensen at 507-373-2341 or Larry Petersen at 507-373-6446.
