Weekend Planner: Theater, skating and crafts are on tap

Minnesota Festival Theatre’s production of &uot;Crimes of the Heart&uot; opened Wednesday, with shows through the weekend. The Pulitzer-Prize winning play is dramatic comedy featuring the MaGrath sisters, three women with a multitude of problems. For the younger crowd, the skate park is hosting an afternoon of music and skate and bike demonstrations Saturday.

Friday, June 28:

– Northbridge Mall will hold a summer craft show all weekend long, open during mall hours. Celebrate the mall’s 16th anniversary with free cake and root beer floats from 2-4 p.m. at center court.

– Worth county fair in Northwood takes place all weekend long.

Saturday, June 29:

– The Albert Lea Farmers’ Market will be held in the parking lot at the corner of Broadway Avenue and Water Street beginning at 9 a.m.

– SK8 Rock’n and Roll’n party, at the skate park at Albert Lea city beach. Music by a local band and demonstrations from skateboarders and bikers will begin at 1 p.m. with non-scheduled skating from 4-7 p.m.

– The Pelican Breeze will hold a public cruise at 2 p.m.

Sunday, June 30:

– Does Drove #70 will hold a sit-down pancake breakfast from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Elks Lodge. The event is open to the public at $5 a plate and will be held in conjunction with the state Elks convention.

– &uot;Echoes From the Past: A Walk Into History&uot; will begin at 12:30 p.m. at Graceland Cemetery. Escorted tours through the cemetery will leave from the welcome tent at approximate ten minute intervals, with the last tour starting at 3:30 p.m. The cost of this “Walk Into History” is $4 for adults, $2 for children 12 and under. – The &uot;Skipper&uot; Berg Band will present its weekly free program of live music beginning at 1:30 p.m. in the Edgewater Park bandshell. The program is sponsored by the Albert Lea Federation of Musicians Local 567 and the city of Albert Lea.
