Holiday lanes will be rocking once again as bowlers gather to raise money for Arc of Freeborn County Saturday, July 20, from 1-3 p.m.

The group’s third-annual Bowl-a-Thon is open to anyone who would like to help out. To participate, register with the ARC office before July 17 and begin collecting donations. Pledge sheets can be obtained at the ARC office, Rainbow foods, HyVee, Holiday Lanes, and the Bible Book Store.

The group will bowl two games at Holiday Lanes in Albert Lea. Participants must have at least one pledge in order to bowl. The cost is $5 to bowl, but if the participant has more than $20 in pledges bowling is free. If more than $45 is raised the participant is entered in the grand prize drawing for a 27-inch television or a DVD player.

Last year the event raised $1,750, with $1,000 in matching funds from Wal-Mart to benefit Arc’s programs for the developmentally disabled.

&uot; This event is all about people getting together, having fun and raising money for a good cause,&uot; said director Jo Lowe.

Fifty-five bowlers participated last year, and about 40 have registered so far this year. Lowe encourages anyone interested to contact 377-3469 for more information.

Prizes are awarded to those with top pledges and who roll strikes or spares, and door prizes will also be given away throughout the event. Bowlers will receive a free glass of pop donated by Holiday Lanes, and a cookie or bar.
