Private funeral services for Chester R. Nelson will be held with the Rev. Daniel Baker officiating. Interment will be in First Lutheran Cemetery in Glenville. There will be no visitation. Bayview/Freebom Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.

Chester died Thursday, July 4, 2002 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Chester Richard Nelson was born Feb. 12, 1948, to Richard and Esther (Erickson) Nelson in Freeborn County. He was a &uot;special needs&uot; individual and has been with REM for 11 years. He enjoyed baseball, coffee with his friends, and listening to his radio.

Survivors include his parents; a brother, Jim Nelson and wife Mary of Albert Lea; a niece, Jeannine McCuskey and husband Jon and their children, Jacob and Addison; a nephew, Jeremy Nelson and wife Belinda; and aunts and uncles.

Chester was preceded in death by his grandparents and his uncle, Bob Erickson.
