Eucebio Talamantes, 89, Owatonna

Eucebio Talamantes of Owatonna, formerly of Austin and Albert Lea, died July 13, 2002, at Cedarview Nursing Home In Owatonna where he was a resident since 1999.

Services are set for Wednesday, July 17, at 2 p.m. at the Brick-Meger Funeral Home, 1603 Austin Road, Owatonna, with Eucebio’s son, the Rev. Eliazar Talamantes of First United Pentecostal Church of Owatonna officiating the afternoon service. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna. Friends may call at the Brick-Meger Funeral Home in Owatonna on Tuesday from 3-8 p.m., and one hour before the time of service at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Eucebio was born March 5, 1913, in Knopie, Texas. He married Hilaria Moreno in Texas in 1937. The couple made their home in Texas raising 11 children. Eucebio moved to Minnesota in 1954 with his family. He worked on area farms as a farm hand for all of his life. He was a member of First United Pentecostal in Owatonna. He enjoyed gardening, playing guitar, singing and riding his bike. He enjoyed spending time with his family and will be remembered for his sense of humor.

Eucebio is survived by wife, Hilaria of Texas, eight sons: Marcenino Talamantes of Colorado, Joe and Phyllis Talamantes of Albert Lea, Abel and Leah Ann Talamantes of Owatonna, Neftali Talamantes of Odessa, Texas, Job and Guadalupe Talamantes of Austin, Eliazar and Mary Talamantes of Owatonna, Ray and Alma Talamantes of Albert Lea, and David and Connie Talamantes of Albert Lea; daughters: Martha and Joe Garza of San Antonio, Texas, Lydia Gonzales of San Antonio, Texas, and Abigail and Pete Pena of Lubbock, Texas; 49 grandchildren; 100 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by one great-grandson.
