Paul Lawrence Murphy, 38, Silver Lake, Iowa

The memorial service for Paul Lawrence Murphy of Silver Lake, Iowa, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 6, at St. Theodore Catholic Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Robert Schneider will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. There will be no reviewal at the church; friends may visit with family one hour before services.

Paul died Monday, July 1, 2002, at his home from complications of diabetes. He was 38 years old.

Paul was born in Albert Lea on March 6, 1964, the son of George D. and Margaret (Cunningham) Murphy. He graduated from Albert Lea High School, completed the welding and metal fabrication Program at Albert Lea Vocational School, and also attended Mankato State University.

Paul worked at Enderes Tool Co. in Albert Lea for 12 years. He had lived in Silver Lake, Iowa, for the past ten years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Steel Workers Union. Paul enjoyed biking, hunting, playing pool, and loved being with his dogs.

Paul is survived by his parents: George and Margaret Murphy of Albert Lea; sister, Mary and husband Harlan Greene and their children, Jenny and Elizabeth, all of Silverdale, Wash.; brother, David Murphy and wife Susan and their children, Angela and Jacob, all of Roseville, Minn.; sister, Ann and husband Mike Kjos and their sons, Sam and Max, all of Elko, Minn.; sister, Sharon and husband Wade Bresnahan and daughter, Abby, all of Lewisville, Texas; several aunts, uncles and cousins and many friends; and his special pet companions: Barney and Otis.

Paul was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: George and Vera Murphy; maternal grandparents: Lawrence and Mary Cunningham; and four uncles and one aunt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Diabetes or Leukemia Associations.
