Police catch last suspect in pizza attack

A juvenile was apprehended by the Albert Lea Police Department in connection with an armed robbery and assault of a pizza delivery man.

The juvenile was suspected to be at the robbery scene with Juan Miguel Sanchez, 18, of 713 Jefferson Ave., who was charged with first-degree aiding and abetting aggravated robbery.

The delivery man was hit with an ax handle and injured on his skull and temple, which caused a loss of peripheral vision in his left eye and some sense of taste and smell, according to the criminal complaint. The group stole the pizza and $16.10 and fled.

The attack happened around midnight May 20. The suspects are accused of ordering the pizza then ambushing the driver in the driveway at 106 West 11th St. when he delivered it.

Two other adults and one juvenile have already been arrested and charged. Court hearing for the adult defendants is scheduled on Aug. 5.
