A graveside service and celebration of life for Roy A. Olson, formerly of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:14 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at Lakewood Cemetery, Albert Lea.

A celebration of life for Roy A. Olson, age 45, of Powderhorn, Colo., formerly of Montrose, Colo., and Albert Lea, was held at noon on Monday, Feb. 18, at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel in Montrose. Officiant was his brother, Ray Olson. Visitation for family and friends was held Monday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Cremation followed.

He died unexpectedly in an auto accident in Hinsdale County, Colo., on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002.

Roy was born on July 14, 1956, in Albert Lea, the son of Joseph G. and Evelyn (Melby) Olson. He spent his childhood in Albert Lea, graduated from

Albert Lea High School in 1974, and from the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point in 1978.

He loved to spend time in the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his brother, Rayman Olson and wife Carol of Woodbury, Minn.; loving niece and nephews, Ryan Joseph, Michael Ferris and Dana Elizabeth; Roy’s constant companions, Barney and Toga; and many friends, especially Randy Reynolds and Charlie Carbert. His former wife, Marie Olson, also survives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph, and mother, Evelyn.
