Shirley Ann Sanders, 72, of Auburn, Ill., formerly of Albert Lea, died Friday, July 5, 2002 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.

Monday, July 8, 2002 at Staab Memorial Home, 201 S. Grand, Route 4, Chatham, Ill., preceded by a memorial gathering at 10:30 a.m. Cremation Services of Central Illinois in Chatham accorded cremation rites.

Shirley Ann Sanders was born April 15, 1930 in Hollandale to Herman and Henrietta Snater Aalfs. On Dec. 16, 1967, she married Harold L. Sanders.

She was a homemaker and known for her great cooking. She was outspoken and incredibly honest about everything. She attended Albert Lea High School and had a lifelong interest in learning.

She is survived by her husband, Harold, of Auburn, Ill.; a daughter, Suzanne Sanders Betzold and her husband James of Forest Park, Ill; two sons, Scott Spilde of Iowa Falls, Iowa, and Bruce Spilde and his wife Vickie of Hartland; six grandchildren, Kyle, Misty, Crysta, Wade, Heath and Shane Spilde; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a stepfather, Adolph E. Dorman and a son, Larry Lee Spilde; and a brother, LeRoy Aalfs.

Memorials are preferred to St. John’s Hospice, 800 E. Carpenter, Springfield, Ill. 62702.

Staab Memorial home, 202 South Grand, Route 4, Chatham, Ill., is in charge of arrangements.
