Donald C. Burgett, 81, St. Joseph

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at the Daniel Funeral Home Chapel in St. Cloud for Donald C. Burgett, age 81, of St. Joseph who died on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at his home.. The Rev. Stacey Steck will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls with full military honors provided by VFW Post 428.

Friends may call between 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, and after 9:30 a.m. on Friday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.

Donald was born on May 1, 1921, in LeRoy to Leonard and Mabel (Barkee) Burgett. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II in the South Pacific where he received the Purple Heart. He married Adeline Malcomson on Nov. 24, 1946, in LeRoy. He served as Food Service Manager at the Minnesota State Correctional Facility in St. Cloud. He retired on July 3, 1980. He has been a resident of St. Cloud since 1963 and St. Joseph since 1977. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of St. Cloud, life member of VFW Post 428, member of the Disabled American Veterans, Waite Park American Legion Post 428, and the Valhalla Marine Unit.

Donald was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. He loved fishing, bowling, all sports and card playing.

He is survived by his wife, Adeline; children: David (Paula) of Cloquet, Linda Mickelson (Vance) of Albert Lea, Luanne Bjorklund (Kurt) of Armstrong, Iowa, and Robert of Minneapolis; eight grandchildren; and brother, Gene Moen of Emmons.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Eva Rowe.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
