E. Einer Sorensen, 89, Alden

Funeral services for E. Einer Sorensen, age 89, of Alden will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. The Rev. Peter Soli will officiate. Interment will be at the Alden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Einer died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.

Edward Einer Sorensen was born June 15, 1913, to William and Emilia (Rasmussen) Sorensen in Alden. Einer attended rural Alden School, District 40 until 1923. The family moved to Solvang, Calif. for nine years where he graduated from Santa Ynez Valley – Union High School. He moved back to the Alden area where he began farming. Einer was united in marriage to Frieda Wichmann on Jan. 16, 1940, at Bear Lake Lutheran Church. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. Einer enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, doing word search books, lawn work and especially spending time with his family and friends.

Einer is survived by his wife Frieda of Alden; five children, Donald and his wife Jan Sorensen of Stayton, Ore., Dean Sorensen of Alden, Dorothy and her husband Robert Johnson of Alden, David and wife JoAnn Sorensen of Alden and Darlene Sorensen of Albert Lea; 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Viola Koehler, brother, Edwin Sorensen, daughter-in-law, JoAnn Sorensen and a granddaughter in infancy.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the donor’s choice.
