Evelyn E. Bean, 80, Albert Lea

A memorial service for Evelyn E. Bean, age 80, of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Lyndy West will officiate. Interment will be in the First Congregational United Church of Christ Cemetery in Comfrey, Minn. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at Bayview on Thursday.
Evelyn died on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.
Evelyn Elizabeth Leffler Bean was born on Oct. 7, 1921, in Comfrey, the daughter of Tony C. and Alma Augusta (Zettler) Leffler. She grew up and attended school in Cornfrey, graduating from Comfrey High School. Evelyn had been a resident of Albert Lea for the last 50 years. She was united in marriage to Forrest L. Bean, who preceded her in death. Evelyn was employed by the North American Life Insurance Company and as a secretary for First Lutheran Church. She was a former member of the First Congregational Church of Comfrey, a member of First Lutheran Church of Albert Lea, and had served on the board of the Salvation Army.
Evelyn loved her family and was a caring, nurturing person. She appreciated her home, was an avid reader, enjoyed handwork of lap quilting, painting and needlepoint. Evelyn enjoyed traveling and was interested in the mission of the church both locally and worldwide.
Survivors include her sister Lois Leffler, of Philadelphia, and several cousins and friends.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Forrest.
Memorials are preferred to the Peace and Power Ministry of First Lutheran Church.
