Joshua John Kuphal, age 19, of Albert Lea, died Aug. 5, 2002, at his home, surrounded by his family, from complications of surgery, related to Spina Bifida. He was met at heaven’s gate by two special friends and his grandfather, Ken.
Josh was born Oct. 22, 1982, in Mankato, the son of proud parents Brian and Kathleen Kuphal. He was born with Spina Bifida. He soon moved to Albert Lea with his family. He graduated from Albert Lea High School on May 31, 2002.
Josh was very social and enjoyed being with people. He was enthusiastic for life and brought out the best in people. He met his disability with determination, a zest for life, a sense of humor, and a positive attitude. His favorite things were his friends, hanging out with the basketball team, hunting, fishing, sports, television, dogs, Mountain Dew, and chocolate. He truly touched many hearts, in his short life. He was a wonderful example of a person embraced by a caring community, and will be missed by many.
