Kendall E. Meuser, 82, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Kendall E. Meuser, age 82, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, at the United Methodist Church. The Rev. James Haun will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Kendall died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, at Bethel Care Center in St. Paul from complications following a fall suffered at his home in April.

Kendall Erden Meuser was born April 27, 1920, to Arthur J. and Hazel (Fogerty) Meuser in Albert Lea. He was a lifelong resident of Albert Lea. Kendall attended Albert Lea schools and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1938. After graduation, he was a messenger for Western Union. Kendall served in the United States Army during World War II. After his discharge from the service, he graduated from the Elgin Watchmaking School in Elgin, Ill.

On May 18, 1958, Kendall was united in marriage to Alice Luella Wittmer at Concordia Pickerel Lake Lutheran Church. He was employed at Wilson & Co. for many years, retiring in 1983. Kendall was a member of United Methodist Church, VFW, and Wells American Legion. He had his pilot’s license, liked flying and camping, and especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Alice of Albert Lea; children: Mark Meuser and his wife Debra of Albert Lea, Kathleen Knutson and her husband Dennis of Albert Lea, and Robert Meuser and his wife Teresa of Burnsville; grandchildren: Brittany and Megan Meuser, Jennifer and Christopher Larson, Ashley Knutson, and Dustin, Christina, and Ann Knutson; sisters: Bernadine (Bunnie) Kuyper of Bloomington, Joan Wittmer and her husband Les of Albert Lea, and Sylvia Meuser of Albert Lea; brother, Conrad Wangen and his wife Ellie of Albert Lea; brother-in-law, Gordon Knutson of Albert Lea; sister-in-law, Phyllis Meuser Nielson of Colorado; special cousin, Lois Johnson and her husband Bud of Cottage Grove; cousin-in-law, Betty Landis of Albert Lea; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Kendall was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ardith Knudtson; brother, Darrell Meuser; and special cousins: Gladys Schmidt and Dave Landis.
