G-E spikers make quick work of Hurricanes

HOUSTON &045; On one of the longest road trips of the year, the Glenville-Emmons Wolverines had one of their shortest matches.

The Wolverines swept Houston 3-0 in a Southeast Conference volleyball match, winning 15-1, 15-4, 15-7 on the Hurricanes’ court Thursday night.

&uot;Tonight we got to use some different combinations again and all of them seemed to work,&uot; said G-E coach Craig Rayman. &uot;It was a long road trip but a good game.&uot;

The win improved the Wolverines’ record to 11-4.

Individual statistics: Jenna Brackey 17-for-17 serving, two aces, 10 set assists; Kelly Yost 10-for-10, one ace, seven kills, one tip kill; Katie Brackey 8-for-9, two aces, 10 assists; Amy Sola six kills; Heidi Hansen 12-for-12, two aces; Megan Avery 2-for-2, one ace, one kill, one tip; Emily Wolff 7-for-7; Taryn Kaasa three kills; Alisa Rayman 12-for-15, six aces, seven kills, one tip, one block kill; Ellen Hansen one block.

The Wolverines have homecoming this week, hosting Lyle/Austin Pacelli in what’s expected to be a tough match Tuesday night.
