George ‘Hal’ Huntington, 77, Tucson, Ariz.

Harold George “Hal” Huntington, age 77, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Albert Lea, passed away suddenly on Monday, Sept. 2, 2002 in Austin.

He was born Dec. 9, 1924, in Glencoe, Minn., to George and Gertrude (Van Hoorik) Huntington. A World War II Naval veteran, he served in the Pacific. On May 27, 1953, Hal married Marjorie B. Nelson in Mason City, Iowa. A watchmaker at Wulff Jewelry in Albert Lea, he later worked as a salesman for Schweigert Meats, Wilson Meats, and did consulting for Sam Walton of the Sam’s stores. He retired in 1994 from Wilson Foods and enjoyed playing black jack and pool.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie of Tucson, Ariz.; children: Rick Knauer of Tucson, Ariz., Janet (Jim) Jensen of Wonder Lake, Ill., William Tech (Michelle) Huntington of Zimmerman, Terry Huntington of Brooklyn Park, Kim J. (Ann) Huntington of Brighton, Mich., and Ann (Gil) Schlierer of Stamford, Conn.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Seth G. (Marjorie) Huntington of Eden Prairie; sister, Mary Ann (Gordon) Klenk of Wells; and many other wonderful relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin with the Rev. Paul Nelson officiating. Friends may call at the Worlein Funeral Home, Austin, from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, and at the church one hour before the service. There will be no reviewal.

A wake service will be Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Military rites by American Legion Post #91.

The family prefers memorials to donor’s choice.
