Homecoming is always a kick-off celebration for the school year. Seniors get ready for their final year, teams are settling into their seasons and underclassmen are starting to learn the ropes.
For TEAM, Together Education Achieves More, Friday night’s homecoming celebration was a beginning for them as well. They officially started their general-election referendum campaign.
&uot;We are now going forward in full force as planned,&uot; said TEAM co-chairman Dennis Dieser. &uot;We are trying to get good facts and information out to the public.&uot;
TEAM was started before the 2001 referendum, which failed. They plan this year to increase advertising, meetings and information distribution.
&uot;Education has to take priority,&uot; said Dieser. &uot;We are going out here with a positive attitude. We’re going to undertake it upon ourselves to get out to the public, give them all the information we can and try to get this referendum passed.&uot;
TEAM members passed out pamphlets of referendum information to those attending Friday night’s homecoming football game. They also posted signs throughout the crowd that said &uot;Vote Yes, Yes,&uot; on the two-question referendum.
Dieser said TEAM will be at many more public gatherings promoting their cause. &uot;Tonight is just the kickoff,&uot; he said. &uot;You will see a lot of this as we go through towards Nov. 5.&uot;
