Homegrown harvest

Tyler Hitchcock, 13, of Albert Lea, uses a hand-operated apple

press to crush pears to make pear juice Saturday afternoon at

the Harvest Celebration near Manchester. Hitchcock also used the

press to make apple juice, as well a mix of apple and pear juice.

The Harvest Celebration featured demostrations in spinning wool,

chipping glass arrowheads and juggling. Many homemade snacks were

also available. The celebration took place at Dale and Becky Grotsun’s

farm.
