Albert Lea and Minnesota state officials met with Ford Motor Company Wednesday to discuss options for a parts distribution warehouse in the area.
“I think our presentation went very well,” said city manager Paul Sparks. He said the city was given 15 minutes to present the site and the city to Ford officials.
The company is looking at the Habben industrial site for an Albert Lea warehouse. The city has offered the site free of charge to Ford. Wherever it chooses to go, the company has indicated it would like to open operations by 2004.
Ford is considering two other sites for a
Midwest distribution warehouse; Stewartville and Menomonie, Wis. Stewartville also gave their presentation to Ford on Wednesday.
Today Menomonie and Wisconsin state officials will meet with Ford to give their presentation.
Ford officials had indicated earlier that they would come to a decision quickly after the meetings. After Wednesday’s meeting, though, Sparks said he was told by the company that a decision would be made in three weeks.
