Knute Henry Nelson, 82, Glenville

The funeral service for Knute Henry Nelson will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at Lunder Lutheran Church. The Rev. Tamara Dahlvang will officiate. Burial will be in Lunder Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Military honors will be accorded by the Glenville and Albert Lea Veterans Organizations. Bonnerup Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

Knute died on Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at the Albert Lea Medical Center. He was 82 years old.

Knute was born in Emmons on July 1, 1920, the son of John and Martha (Hovland) Nelson. He was a lifelong resident of Freeborn County. During World War II he served with the U.S. Army.

On June 20, 1942, Knute was united in marriage with Doris Lien at Emmons Lutheran Church. They were members of Lunder Lutheran Church. Knute worked as a heavy equipment operator for Sorenson Brothers for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Glenville American Legion where he had served as past commander and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Knute is survived by one son, Keith Nelson of Rochester; four grandchildren: Jill (Dale) Burrow of Ft. Worth, Texas, Michael (Jill) Watts of San Diego, Calif., Jeffrey Watts of Dallas, Texas, and Tammy (Chris) Nelson of Las Vegas, Nev.; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Bernice (Delmar) Schmitt of St. Paul; and one brother, Marvin (Colleen) Nelson of Albert Lea.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Martha Nelson; wife, Doris, in 1990; and one daughter, Donna Parnell.
