Lillian Flaskerud was born on Aug. 28, 1907, in Freeman Township, the daughter of Henry and Olava (Flaskerud) Nagel. She was baptized and confirmed at the Round Prairie Lutheran Church. On Jan. 9,1927, Lillian was united in marriage to Wilhelm Flaskerud. The couple moved to Decorah, Iowa for three years and then back to Freeborn County where they purchased Lillian’s father’s farm, which became a Century Farm. Being close to the church, Lillian became very active in church work. She was the custodian for many years and mowed both cemeteries and the church lawn. Lillian was a Sunday school teacher, she sang in the choir and both she and Willie were involved with 4-H. Lillian loved to work on the farm, she drove horses and later the tractors during field work. She would milk the cows while Willie was in the field. Lillian had been a member of Round Prairie Lutheran Church for 89 years. Lillian later worked at Cornicks nursing home and then St. John’s Lutheran Home. She enjoyed working with all of the residents. The couple would travel to Texas during the winter months, which they both enjoyed.
