ROCHESTER &045; Twice this season the Glenville-Emmons Wolverines came close to the Lyle/Austin Pacelli volleyball team.

Make it three times.

The Wolverines dropped another tough decision to Lyle/Pacelli, this time 3-1 in a Sub-section 1A West semifinal match Saturday at the Rochester Mayo Civic Center. It ended the season for the Wolverines, who finished with a record of 19-8. They were seeded third in the sub-section, one spot behind Lyle/Pacelli.

&uot;I thought maybe we could take them this time,&uot; said G-E coach Craig Rayman. &uot;We went five games the first time we played them, four games the second time. We’re pretty evenly matched. I thought we could maybe get them this time.&uot;

The Wolverines got off to what Rayman called a sluggish start in game one, though they bounced back for a strong second game. Games three and four could have gone either way, according to the coach.

&uot;We had our opportunities in games three and four,&uot; said Rayman. &uot;The girls played real hard. It’s just a tough one to lose, a heartbreaker for the kids.&uot;

The Wolverines’ leaders: Alisa Rayman 10-for-12 serving, 15 kills, four tip kills; Jenna Brackey 14-for-14, two aces, 10 assists, one tip; Kelly Yost 18-for-19, 10 kills; Katie Brackey 14-for-15, two aces, 17 assists, two tips; Amy Sola five kills; Lauren Bremer 2-for-2, two kills; Heidi Hansen 12-for-12, two aces; Megan Bjorklund 15-for-18, two aces, two kills, one tip; Becky Ericksen 3-for-3.

&uot;It was a good season for the girls,&uot; said Coach Rayman. &uot;They were a great bunch of kids to coach, and I can’t say enough about how hard they played. It’s just a tough way to end the season.&uot;
