Claudia Ruth (Ness) Bestland, age 70, died Oct. 1, 2002, in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. Claudia (&uot;Kye&uot;) was born Sept. 29, 1932 at Dawson, Minn., to Vera and Grover Ness. Following the untimely deaths of her parents when she was a child, she joined the Sether family of Albert Lea. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1950, and the University of Minnesota in 1954. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Roy J. Bestland; their son, Eric Bestland; and her sister, Minette (Ness) Abrahamson. She is survived by three children, Jamie Bryan, Jana Saulhaber, and Evan Bestland; and eight grandchildren, all of Palm Beach Gardens. She is also survived by her brother, John D. Ness of Virginia Beach, Va. &uot;Kye&uot; was devoted to her family and a respected educator. She showed great commitment to the Palm Beach Gardens schools, Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, and her community. A memorial service was held at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Palm Beach Gardens, Oct. 8, 2002.
