Eugene E. Hannam, 69, LeRoy

Funeral services for Eugene E. Hannam will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002 at the LeRoy Lutheran Church in LeRoy with the Rev. Thomas Kolden officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the LeRoy Cemetery.

Eugene (Gene-Bud) Hannam passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002 at his home.

Eugene (Gene-Bud) Hannam was born in Mona, Iowa on May 28, 1933 to Herbert Hannam and Lavina (Beyer) Hannam. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith and was a member of the LeRoy Lutheran Church.

Gene graduated in 1951 from St. Ansgar, Iowa High School. He served in the 82nd Airborne for six years, earning several commendations awarded to him. He fought on the frontlines in the Korean War.

Gene was united in marriage to Shirley &uot;Sal&uot; Aulwes on April 15, 1953 in Mason City, Iowa. To this union three children were born, Bret, Brenda and Beth. The family lived many years on an acreage west of LeRoy. Gene enjoyed his garden and country home.

He worked for Interstate (Alliant) Power Company for 30 years as a lineman and crew foreman, retiring in 1995.

Survivors include wife, Shirley &uot;Sal&uot; of LeRoy; one son, Bret Hannam of LeRoy; two daughters, Brenda (Jeff) Grundstrom of Lakeville and Beth (Tim) Slapnicher of Montgomery, Minn.; three grandchildren, Chalsea, Ashlee and Dane; two brothers, Herb (Trudy) Hannam of Cedarburg, Wis., and Harlan &uot;Butch&uot; (Arlys) of Coralville, Iowa; one sister, Darlene (Bob) Anderson of Wichita, Ks.; one sister-in-law, Norma Hannam of St. Ansgar; many nieces and nephews; and family pet, Rover.

Gene was preceded in death by his mother, Lavina Hannam; father, Herbert J. Hannam, Sr.; and brother Duane (Nick) Hannam.

Friends may call at Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home in LeRoy from 4-7 p.m. on Friday and one hour prior to the service at the church.
