Hulda A. Hanson, 73, Denver, Colo.

Hulda A. Hanson, age 73, of Denver Colo., died Sept. 8, 2002, of injuries from a fall.

She was born Feb. 8, 1929, to Haakon and Alma (Thompson) Hanson at R.R. 2, Alden, Freeborn County.

Hulda attended Pioneer School District #16, grades 1-6, Freeborn High School, graduating co-salutatorian in the class of 1947. She attended business college in Mankato and was a secretary several years. She moved to Denver in 1951 and went to nursing school to become an LPN, working at the Porter Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed working with older patients until her retirement. Hulda belonged to the Colorado Federation of Licensed Practical Nurses and the National Federation of Licensed Practical Nurses, Inc.

Hulda was committed to serving the Lord Jesus Christ and sang in the choir for 48 years at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Denver. She faithfully volunteered at weekly senior dinners there and belonged to the Lydia Circle.

Hulda enjoyed reading, embroidering, Bible studies, and attending Sons of Norway smorgasbord and lutefisk dinners. She made a point of remembering friends and family members’ birthdays and important events. She was a good correspondent and prayer partner.

Hulda was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother; brother, George; and nephew, Dale Hanson.

She is survived by brothers: Elmer of Wichita, Kan., Dean (Miriam) of Umatilla, Fla., Harold (Delores) of Long Lake, Minn., and Haakon Jr. (Pauline) of Las Vegas, Nev.; sisters: Helen Larson of Austin, Stella (Glen) Sorbo of Two Harbors, Minn., and Anna (Meritt) Henry of Chaska, Minn.; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and -nephews; aunts; and special friend, Walter Marco of Englewood, Colo.

Services were held 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Denver, Colo., with the Rev. John Backe officiating. Arrangements were by All-States Cremation Services Inc., of Wheat Ridge, Colo.
