Lowell ‘Skinner’ E. Hegwood, 77, Albert Lea

Memorial Services for Lowell “Skinner” E. Hegwood, of 1505 Lakewood Ave., Albert Lea, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Bonnerup Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

Lowell died at his home on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002. He was 77.

He was born on April 17,1925, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hegwood in Revere, Minn.

Lowell graduated from Morgan Park High School in Duluth.

He served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1943-1946. Upon his return from the service, Lowell attended the University of Minnesota, Duluth.

In 1951, he married Shirley Baker in Minneapolis. They lived in Minneapolis, Ohio, and made their home in Albert Lea in 1969. He owned and operated the Cabin Bar, and had worked at Miami Margarine and Streaters. After his retirement, he was a courier at the Albert Lea Medical Center. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, the Elks, Eagles, the Masonic Lodge in Minneapolis, and Trinity Lutheran Church. His passion was golf, he was Minnesota Vikings fan and also enjoyed watching all sports.

Lowell “Skinner” is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife, Shirley of Albert Lea; four children: Deborah Bladine of Brooklyn Park, Minn., Greg Hegwood of Plymouth, Minn., Brad Hegwood and his wife Cindy of Albert Lea, and Scott Hegwood and his wife Lori of Eau Claire, Wis.; grandchildren: Nicole Bladine of Brooklyn Park, Minn., Tyler and Evan Hegwood of Albert Lea, and Cassie, Corrie and Colton Hegwood of Eau Claire, Wis.; brother, Wayne Hegwood and his wife Lucille of Arizona; sister-in-law, Cathy Engstrom of Maple Grove, Minn.; brother-in-law, Tom Baker of Rice, Minn.; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
