Funeral services for Ruth E. Sorensen, age 73, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation is today at 5-8 p.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Ruth died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.

Ruth Evelyn Sorensen was born Jan. 15, 1929, to George B. and Selma T. (Overland) Reindal in Pickerel Lake Township. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Ruth attended District #56 and Alden schools, graduating from Alden High School in 1946. She was united in marriage to Richard H. Sorensen on July 2, 1949, at First Lutheran Church. Ruth became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in 1949. She had been a bookkeeper at Freeborn County Co-op Oil, National Tire Warehouse, and Sorensen Bros. Inc. Ruth was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Danish Brotherhood Lodge #75, and St. John’s Foundation. Richard and Ruth enjoyed spending the winter months at their home in Texas.

Survivors include her husband, Richard of Albert Lea; daughter, Roxanne Wadding and her husband Dennis of Emmons; son, R. Randy Sorensen and his wife Julie of Albert Lea; grandsons: Jon and Jay Wadding and Caleb and Chris Sorensen; brother, Ralph Reindal and his wife Vernita of Alden; sisters-in-law: Jeanne Reindal of Minneapolis, Marion Hanson of Albert Lea, and Orva Sorensen of Albert Lea; and nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter; parents-in-law, Soren and Fannie Sorensen; sister, Valborg Jensen; brother, Harlan Reindal; and brothers-in-law: William Jensen, Wilfred Hanson, and Phillip Sorensen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or St. John’s Lutheran Home.
