Stella R. Svenningsen, 89, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Stella R. Svenningsen, age 89, of Oak Park Place, Albert Lea, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Peter Soli will officiate. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Stella died on Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at her home at Oak Park Place surrounded by her loving family.

Stella R. Svenningsen was born on March 27, 1913, in Clarks Grove, the daughter of Fremont and Cora (Petersen) Jensen. She graduated from the Faribault School for the Deaf in 1932. On Sept. 4,1938, Stella was united in marriage to Svend A. Svenningsen in Clarks Grove. The couple owned and operated bakeries in Faribault, Albert Lea and in 1947 they purchased the Alden Bakery from Horace Beach. The couple purchased the former bank building in Alden where they operated their bakery. Stella enjoyed making many different types of crafts and found great pleasure in giving them to her family and numerous friends. She also enjoyed watching the Twins and Vikings.

Stella is survived by her husband, Svend, of Albert Lea, sons, Norman and wife Ruby Svenningsen of Florence, Ariz., and Harry and wife Adeline Svenningsen of Casa Grande, Ariz.; daughters, Sharon Svenningsen of Manassas, Va., Ramona and husband Curtis Rush of Clearwater, Fla., and Kathy and husband Eugene Stem of Owatonna; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and brothers, Roy and wife Dorothy Jensen and Neil and wife Phyllis Jensen.

Stella was preceded in death by her parents; sisters and brothers-in-law, Molly and husband Raymond Miers and Etta and husband Vernon Lawson.
