Funeral services for Gerald D. Shaunce, age 61, of Geneva, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, at the Community Lutheran Church in Geneva. The Rev. Joel Xavier will officiate. Interment will be in Geneva Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Gerald died this past weekend at his home in Geneva due to a heart attack.

Gerald Dean Shaunce was born May 23, 1941, to Archie and Inez Mabel (Thostenson) Shaunce in Albert Lea. He attended Ellendale Schools and graduated from Ellendale High School in 1959. He had worked at the Geneva Creamery, Super Sweet Feeds, and retired from Wenger Corp. in Owatonna where he had worked for many years. Lately, Gerald had been doing janitorial work at various places. He collected old Ford cars and enjoyed playing and listening to country western music.

Survivors include his mother, Inez Shaunce of Geneva; brothers: Lester and his wife Diane of Albert Lea, Roger and his wife Bonnie of Geneva, and Lyle of Ellendale; one aunt; two uncles; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gerald was preceded in death by his father, Archie.
