Lois Janiece Aspenson, 78, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Lois Janiece Aspenson will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel, Albert Lea. The Rev. Greg P. Ciesluk will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the chapel in Albert Lea. There will also be a service in Tomah, Wis., on Sunday followed by burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah, Wis.

Janiece died on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at the Albert Lea Medical Center, Albert Lea. She was 78 years old.

Janiece was born in Tomah, Wis., on Dec. 30, 1924, the daughter of Pier and Lois (Smart) Aller. She was a graduate of Tomah High School and LaCrosse State Teachers College, in LaCrosse, Wis.

Janiece taught third grade in Viroqua, Wis., from 1946-53. On June 18, 1949, Janiece was united in marriage with LeRoy Aspenson in Tomah, Wis. They lived in Viroqua, Wis. and Moline, Ill., prior to moving to Albert Lea in 1955. Janiece taught school in Dist. #241 in the 1970s and 1980s. She belonged to the United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible School.

Janiece and LeRoy enjoyed traveling but time spent with their family was most special to them.

Janiece is survived by one daughter, Debra Grove and her husband Barry of Marion, Iowa; one son, Jeffrey Aspenson and his wife Renae of Plymouth, Minn.; three grandsons: Bob and Dave Grove of Marion, Iowa, and Daniel Aspenson of Plymouth, Minn.; one sister, Shirley Langwill and her husband Robert of Tomah, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.

Janiece was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, LeRoy, in 1999.
