Faith Sorum has developed a special relationship with many of the kids she watches every Tuesday night, as their parents participate in classes through the Family Support Network.

&uot; It’s fun to have them come all around me,&uot; she said.

Family Support Network provides classes, free of charge, to parents who might otherwise become overwhelmed with parenting. The Family Support Network’s main goal is to prevent child abuse and neglect of any kind.

Faith got involved with the Family Support Network because her mother, Barb, is the program coordinator. Faith’s older sister also volunteered to take care of kids.

The eighth-grader has been around the Family Support Network for most of her life because her mother started work there 10 years ago. Faith enjoys seeing something she does directly help a family. She feels a sense of accomplishment in helping people better themselves. She also understands the impact her volunteer work can have on a child’s life.

&uot; It’s a good opportunity for people,&uot; Faith said.

Barb said she is pleased to see her youngest daughter get involved with an organization they both believe in so much.

&uot;I’m very proud of her,&uot; Barb said. &uot; She willingly and happily (volunteers).
