Alfred O. Jensen, age 91, of Frazee, Minn., died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at St. Mary’s Regional Health Center, Detroit Lakes.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Frazee. The Rev. Joe DeCrans will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Frazee. West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Dec. 3, 1911, in Monterey, Minn.
Alfred grew up and attended school in the Alden and Conger area. He married Violet Bohonek on Nov. 5, 1938, in Northwood, Iowa. They farmed in rural Conger for 40 years. In 1960 they moved into Albert Lea, where he worked at Super Structures of Albert Lea in the manufacturing of rafters. He also worked in field drainage for a number of years. They moved to Height of Land Township in rural Frazee in 1974. He and his wife raised and sold vegetables at their home for many years. He loved to hunt, fish and trap, and was an expert marksman. He passed his expertise and knowledge of the outdoors to many family members and friends.
Survivors include two sons: Ronald (Geraldine) Jensen, of Frazee, and Tony (Ann) Jensen, of Vergas, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and one sister, Amy of Minneapolis.
He was preceded in death by wife, Violet, on Dec. 9, 2001; parents: Jens and Hannah Jensen; three sisters: Stella Krauschaar, Edna Colstrup and
Mildred Larson; and two brothers: Nels and Harold Larson.
