Ruby K. McCornack, 89, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Ruby K. McCornack, age 89, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Dwight Netzer will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 9, and one hour prior to the services at Bayview.
Ruby died Sunday, May 4, 2003, at Fairview Hospital in Red Wing.
Ruby Katherine McCornack was born Feb. 8, 1914, to Soren C. and Matilda (Onstad) Sorenson in Albert Lea. On Aug. 17, 1931, she was united in marriage to Albert H. McCornack in Northfield. The couple lived on the family farm north of Albert Lea from 1931-1972 when they moved to Albert Lea. During those years, Ruby was busy as a farm wife and mother. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, ARC, and Thorne Crest Auxiliary. Ruby had also been active in a church circle at one time. She enjoyed crocheting, flowers, gardening, quilting and cooking.
Survivors include her children: Helen and husband David Lantis of Red Wing, Jirah and wife Trudy McCornack of Albert Lea, Lois and husband Clair Sauer of Lewiston, Michael and wife Sharon McCornack of Ellendale, Catherine and husband Ronald Fenner of Bay City, Wis., and Philip McCornack of Albert Lea; 16 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert; son, Robert; brothers: Ernest R., Irvin, Melvin, and Lavender Sorenson; and sisters: Grace Gailbraith and Helen Aanerud.
Memorials are preferred to ARC of Freeborn County, the Red Wing Hospice, the Kona Hospice, or First Presbyterian Church.
