Alvin L. Larson, 84, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Alvin L. Larson, age 84, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Dwight Netzer will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the services at Bayview/ Freeborn Funeral Home.

Alvin died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.

Alvin LaVerne Larson was born Feb. 25, 1919, to LaVerne and Phoebe (Hatch) Larson in Albert Lea. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1936. On March 28, 1941, Alvin was united in marriage to Rosella M. Horning at the First Presbyterian Church in Albert Lea. He served in the United States Army during World War II from July 1942 to December 1945, mostly overseas. Alvin lived in Albert Lea all his life except for nine years in Ellendale where he owned an implement shop. He later worked for Kepple Implement in Albert Lea and Hayward. Alvin was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He loved to hunt, fish, golf and bowl, and spent much of his time outdoors.

Survivors include his wife, Rosella of Albert Lea; sons: Allen and wife Becky Larson of Geneva, Michael and wife Cherri Larson of Albert Lea, and Larry and wife Ginny Larson, also of Albert Lea; daughter-in-law, Alice Larson of Ellendale; grandchildren: Daniel, Elizabeth, Keven, Sherri, Brian, Michelle, Garrett and Nicole; 13 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Hazel Wise of Moses Lake, Wash., and Ella Bleckeberg and Esther Luna, both of Albert Lea.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis; sisters: Vera Smith and Alice Phillips; and a sister in infancy.
