Felony charges are pending
against Steven Neuman, age 39, of Minneapolis, who was involved in a high-speed car chase Tuesday afternoon, according to the Albert Lea Police Department.
Freeborn County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a disturbance call in Hayward about 2:30 p.m. Neuman’s vehicle was observed on South Shore Drive near Rooster Hill, and the chase went into the southeast part of Albert Lea.
An attempt to stop the Neuman car with a tire spike device didn’t work, and the chase continued in and near the Halverson School parking lot and playground. A sheriff’s deputy’s car struck Neuman’s car twice in the chase sequence, and after the second collision on Frank Hall Drive, Neuman reportedly left the scene on foot, and was quickly apprehended.
Also involved in the chase and its aftermath were the Albert Lea Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol.
