Eldora M. Smith, 87, of Owatonna, died Friday, June 13, 2003 at her home.

She was born May 1, 1916 in Ellendale the daughter of Thenius and Eleanor (Olson) Jensen. Eldora graduated from high school in Northwood. She attended college and received her teaching certificate from Mankato State University. Eldora married Lloyd Smith June 8, 1947 at Community Lutheran Church in Geneva. The couple lived and farmed in rural Steele County and Eldora taught rural school. In 1960 they moved to Owatonna and Eldora started teaching for the Owatonna Public Schools. After a 42-year teaching career, Eldora retired in 1981. Eldora enjoyed playing the piano, violin and accordion and singing. She was a member of Senior Place and involved in Altar Guild and circles at church.

She is survived by Lloyd Smith (Spouse) of Owatonna, Donald Jensen (Brother) of Roseville, Minn. and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death three brothers.

Visitation will be held at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday from 4-7 p.m. and on Tuesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church from 10-11 a.m.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Owatonna. The Rev. Kirk Griebel of Redeemer Lutheran Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Geneva Cemetery in Geneva.
