Irwin K. Olson, 81, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Irwin K. Olson, age 81, of Albert Lea, will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 19, at the East Freeborn Lutheran Church. The Rev. David Hernes will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Irwin died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Irwin Kenneth Olson was born July 13, 1921, to Miner and Ethel (Slater) Olson in Bancroft Township. He grew up on the family farm and loved farming. Irwin was an accountant for Universal, Inc. He was a member of East Freeborn Lutheran Church and the Eagles and was a volunteer for Ride Services. He especially enjoyed raising Suffolk lambs.

Survivors include children: Tom and wife Cindy Olson of Albert Lea, Jack and wife Nancy Olson of Arizona, James and wife April Hansen of Florida, Carol and husband Carmine Geremina of Florida, and Lowell “Bud” and wife Beth Hansen, also of Florida; grandchildren: Brian, Gena, and Jana; and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Donald and wife Clarice Olson of Little Falls; nieces and nephews; and special friend, Matty Wachlin of Albert Lea.

Irwin was preceded in death by his parents, and stepson, David Hansen.
