For the second year in a row, Albert Lea has a qualifier for the State Elks Soccer Shoot.

Again, it’s Sophie Miller.

Miller, who finished third at the state level a year ago, earned another trip with her first-place finish in the district competition at Rochester. She won the girls’ age 10-11 division.

Miller was one of five Albert Leans to place at district. The others were Max Miller, second, 8-9 boys; Lindsey Horejsi, second, 7-and-under girls; Carter Dahl, third, 7-and-under boys; and Seth Light, first, 10-11 boys.

The five advanced to district by winning local competition held at the Brookside soccer field.

Sophie Miller will compete at the state level Aug. 23-24 at Wadena.
