Pearl Eugenia Goodell, 88, Lake Crystal

Pearl Eugenia Goodell, age 88, of Lake Crystal, died Sunday, June 29, 2003, at Immanuel-St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato.

A memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Judson, the Rev. Karl Rydholm officiating. Burial of cremains will be in Hebron Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at the Lake Crystal Mortuary.

Memorials are preferred to Bethany Lutheran Church.

Pearl was born Oct. 31, 1914, in Lake Crystal to Leslie and Lillian (Sayles) Sizer. She graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1933. On Nov. 12, 1937, she married Willard Goodell in Lake Crystal. Willard died in 1976. Pearl was employed for 15 years at the Lake Crystal Health Care Center. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and was active with the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed knitting, reading and traveling.

She is survived by eight children: Beverly Grotsun of Albert Lea, Barbara Lindskog and husband Tom of Minneapolis, David Goodell and wife Barbara of Eagan, Joan Luthra and husband Pal of San Jose, Calif., Diane Arnold of Taylors Falls, Mary Goodell-Mahlum and husband Kermit of Prior Lake, Peggy Hayes and husband Steve of Stafford, Kan., and Michael Goodell and wife Melissa of Judson; 20 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son-in law, James Grotsun.
